Usually I wouldn't even consider a vehicle with that many miles but, the more research I do on diesel trucks that more I'm convinced that they will go way beyond a half million miles.
WebApr 28, 2012 · The 7.3 engine has plenty of torque. Unless your old rig slowed down a lot over the mountains in PA, I’d recommend leaving the 3.73 alone. You are too heavy for 3.55s and the 4.10 is a waste of money. The big turbo won’t gain you anything. Talk to Swamp Donkey about injectors. He is a PSN sponsor and I’ve found him quite sensible.

Either will indicate cylinder wear. Also if you can inspect the turbo for dirt, and shiney edges. Don't worry about any oil you find in the air inlet before the turbo.
